Mr. Butler

Raised on a cattle station just outside of Tenterfield in Northern New South Wales, Cam Butler left the countryside in pursuit of a golfing career at the age of 18. These days he happily resides in Melbourne’s Fitzroy with his girlfriend Anna, spending his days managing our Somewhere store. He also has the enviable role of travelling the world to hand-pick the pieces that you see in our stores (tough life!).

An interview with Men’s Buyer Cam Butler

Can you tell us one of your favourite childhood memories?

That’s a tricky one! There are so many facets to farm life, but growing up it really just seemed like the norm. Having so much space was awesome — it allowed me do everything and anything I wanted to when I was at home.

What do you love most about your job?

The diversity and freedom of expression it allows me to have and the fact that each day brings new challenges. I love being able to select products to display in our stores and I’ve been extremely lucky and privileged to travel to some amazing places.

Where is your favourite place to travel?

I went to Berlin and Paris during the recent European summer and I couldn’t get enough. I am going to Japan early next year, and I can’t wait to experience what that has to offer. The food will be amazing!

Which label has you most excited for next season?

I would say Danish label Anerkjendt, and I love where Royal RepubliQ is going with their men’s footwear. I can’t wait!

What was the last thing you bought?

Our Legacy ‘Six’ shirt in yellow.

What’s your number one piece of sartorial advice?

I’ve got two: Never underestimate the elegance of simplicity; and  every man should have a quality white or navy shirt in his wardrobe.

Outside of being a store manager and fashion buyer what else do you love to do?

I still love getting out on the golf course with my friends, and going back home for a visit is always a massive highlight as it doesn’t  happen too often these days.

Finally, we’ve got to ask, who do you think is the most well-dressed golfer?

It would have to be Jesper Parnevik with his trademark flipped-bill hat, and the late Payne Stewart with his signature checkered plusfour pants — he was a boss.
